Strange harvestmen

This is the wierd little harvestmen (Opiliones) I found that I metioned in annother thread. Legspan is a little more than an inch:

That is a very cute little spider. I've never seen anything like it, and I'm always looking! The colors are the best.

Yeah i have to agree it is pretty funny looking,

Although they are arachnids, they are not spiders. They lack the venom and silk glands of spiders. Also, their cephlathorax and abdomen are fused so they appear as one.

They're in the same group as the more familliar "dady long legs".

Harvestmen are interesting --

i've found some really odd looking ones in the woods of minnesota... tons of harvestmen around..

next time i find some crazy ones, i'll take some pics.

and don't buy into that "daddy long legs are the most poisonous spiders around, but their fangs are too small to bite you" -- it aint true
