Here's before and after pictures of my spider which molted this weekend.
I had pictures of her molting but I accidentally deleted them.
She looks rather blacker after her molt, eh.
Ah, the magic question. I thought she was a Lasiodora subcanens mostly because she looked so much like the spider in that link, but now I'm not so sure. A Lasiodorides striatus perhaps? I bought it about six years ago from a pet shop that sold it as a Peruvian tarantula, but it could have came from anywhere.
No I'm not a mycologist, I don't even know what that is. Somebody who studies fungi, maybe? I'm just a bike courier. I got my nick when I was going into a chatroom a long time ago and I had to call myself something, so I chose Mr. Fungushead. [don't ask me where I got that from] Mr. Fungushead was too long to type every time so people just started calling me Fungii for short and the rest is history. And I guess Fungii ~= Fun+guy. :}
And just to stay on topic, here's another pic of this strange spider.
Beautiful.
And a drastic color change.
The shop I deal with has a mysterious "peru green" I think I'll buy it. I've been wanting it for a while but wanted to Know what she was.
She looks like the After moult picture of yours.
But has been that same color since I first saw her months ago.
So I don't know if she will stay black or fade out some.
I guess I'm going to have to get her and find out.
Eden likes her anyway and has been asking if we can get her.
I'll take pics when I do.
I can't for a while.
We just got 16 inches of snow and it's STILL coming down.
WWWWeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Maryland weather. Gotta love it....
Is also delaying the shop I deal with's shipment Drat it....
