Hi all.
I know nothing at all about spiders and we found this in the bath tub tonight and was wandering if anyone could identify it for me.
We always get the bath spider - Tegenaria domestica pay us a visit but this ones a first.

This is a "Woodlouse Hunter" spider, Dysdera sp. (Dysderidae). You've got two species in the UK, D. crocata and D. erythrina, and they both look very much alike (Roberts, 1996). One way to tell them apart is crocata is a bit larger and has some spines on part of the fourth leg (which erythrina doesn't have). However, neither of these things shows up in your picture so I can't tell you which species you've got.

Great find, this is one of the most exciting British spiders.

thanks jsloan, i cant see any spines on his leg so it could be erythrina.

Great find, this is one of the most exciting British spiders.
i know, i didn't know we had so many different species of spider
