Rip it off the wall and tell them your brother/sister/friend/burgular did it :}

Seriously though, I betcha the compressed air thing would work. Better to have a stressed t than a dead T sealed up behind your mirror.

I'm actually suprised no one has asked this....how the heck did it get into the bathroom mirror in the first place???
C'mom now....she was doing her personale hygiene, of course. Brushing the fangs and styling her hair. ;P

Personally, with what kind of tarantula it is, I'd just seal the mirror up. Those guys are really dangerous.

Good luck getting it out, though. Just be safe!! You don't want to be bitten by this species!!

Could you imagine if you sold the house and the new residents happen to remodel the bathroom. I'd love to see the look on the faces of anyone who removes that mirror and finds the T or even the T's exoskeleton clinging to the wall! {D :D

And the little sh!t lived happily ever after! Love happy endings! :D
BTW, you never told us how it got out in the first place- anyway, hope you learn from this experience.

Wonder if I can market the little T harness idea I have? It would prevent those nasty escapes....

I have this mental image of a rabid T like Diane's Psycho Chaco wearing your harness and staked to the ground. Don't think it'll sell as an escape prevention device.
Maybe you can market your harness to those T keepers wanting to take their T's for a walk around the block! :D I doubt you'll become a millionaire but you might make the news. ;P

oh sorry i thought i put it in the origional post, guess not. anyway it was sorta like a controlled escape. when i do tank transfers, i usually have the other tank sitting right next to the one im working with and do a simple transfer right there. this time i let the t run somehwere out of the way so i wouldnt have to worry about it. (since i have all vents taped off its not a big deal to do this).

so, the first place it headed for was the ceiling, after running straight up the mirror. not a problem i thought, until it was time to get it back. i nudged it in a way to get him started down the mirror but to my suprise it went stright behind it. i had no clue it wasnt sealed off...now i know not to do it this way again.

Wow Da_illest that is a great idea. I'll keep that in mind incase I ever loose a tarantula myself :p
thanks.. i try and study t's, i'm not a scientist or anything though but i do my best, and try a whole bunch of different things from substrates to conditions that aren't too extreme to see how t's react.. i've found that t's are absolutely NUTS about heat.. i don't use a heat clamp on any of my t's but i have an extra heat clamp lying around from my chameleon that i traded off.. one day i wanted to see my e. murinus and decided to try different things.. i started by dropping little bits of water into it's burrow like the T keepers guide mentions for wild t's and it came up enough to see it's front legs and when i dropped some more water it went back down.. so i said to myself, "scratch that idea!", and so i thought about it for a bit and thought, "hey! when i knew nothing of t's and first got mine i had a heat lamp on my rosie and it would ALWAYS be under the light and not in it's hide" so i put a heat clamp right over the substrate near it's burrow entrance so a little bit of heat would get into the burrow but not much and left it for 20 minutes.. when i got back the E. murinus was fully out of it's burrow getting heat so i left it alone for a little longer and when i got back it was fully out in the open right under the lamp.. i opened the lid and the t didn't move, the thing's FEARLESS!

this is my solution to secretive t's such as Cobalt Blues.. i used to hear everyone say that they never see there's so here's what you do, get a heat lamp and turn it on whenever you want to see it, day or night! it's fool proof unless you really spook the t when you go check on it and it runs back down but if you keep the light on and leave it'll come right back up...

t's are heat fiends...

LMAO:p That's what I was thinking too...she got up for a glass of milk and a potty break and was checking to see if she had any of those horrid dark circles under her eyes and low and behold there's this great looking snack hovering above the mirror so off she goes to nab it and the darn thing bolted behind the mirror on her so she just naturally followed!!! :D

Read the bite reports for S. calceatum. No other species has the bragging rights to their level of toxicity.

Never thought blondi's to be dangerous. Not been bitten by one, but I'd rather take their fangs than an asian species.

Glad to hear that you caught your T. You could have always turned all of your roaches or crix loose in the bathroom for him to come out and feed on LOL. Your mom may not have liked that idea though...
