alrigth after you guys are done laughing at my stupidity i need some tips from you guys. heres the deal: i have a mirror in my bathroom that was glued onto the wall. the genius installers seald all the sides off except the top side. the dimensions are something like 5-6'x4' or somethwere around there.

this happened yesterday afternoon just to let you know. i woke up at 3am this morning and decided to check it out and saw the T's legs poking out. using my toothbrush (it was all i could find...i was in a coma mind you) i tried to get under it and force it up but it just took off down the wall...

so if you guys have any bright ideas throw em at me. or if u just want to coment on my stupidity thats welcome also.

oh and by the way, my mom caught wind of the mishap through my dad and has given me a week before she forces my dad to seal it in. im not gonna let that happen. i dont blame her though given the escaped spider is an S. calceatum...i told her it was a pink toe

I would tell her the truth. See if you can convince her to take the mirror off, get your T, then mount the mirror back on. If you tell her you'll pay he expense, she might warm up to the idea. In the mean time, turn the lights out, and make a surprise entry periodically, and see if you can catch it while its out of its "new home". Good luck, and hope she doesn't try bug spray.

i could tell her the truth but at that instant shed call to have it sealed. shes not the kind of person that will go out of her way to save something like a bug. so even though thats a good sugestion, its not going to be practical. besides, who knows how much they are gonna try to rip us of for.

but that is my plan though, to keep people out of that bathroom and check up on it every once in a while during the night.

Try carefully easing a dark piece (black perhaps) of poster style cardboard into the crack. If you're lucky the t will come running out straightaway. If not, you're not likely to be worse off than you were before.

Cheers.

ill try it but from i can see using a mirror, theres globs of glue placed in random spots so you cant really slide things back and forward. but you know what, i think i understand what your saying so ill go ahaed and see what i can do

You might want to try using water spray from a spray that most of us use to mist the T's enclousure. It might work.

Hope this help...

A can of compressed air might work, like the kind you get at a computer store to shoot dust from keyboards. It should be strong enough to reach down behind that big mirror. Sometimes they come with the straw you fix to the head so it will shoot a directional stream.

Tarantulas hate being blown on. :p

A water spray might promote mildew.

Someone actually "Glued" a piece of glass that big to the wall? Absolutely amazing!
If you can't find a piece of cardboard that long, try using a thin stiff piece of wire and coax it out- just be very carefull not to squash the little guy. If that does not work, try putting "something that vibrates" ;) to the glass and see if that'll scare it out of there.

Yeah I'd say misting or blowing, but if all sides but the top are sealed, flood it!

Anyhow, after this you will remember to dry the whole "hideout" and seal it, no? Good luck!

yeah i would just try to use a spray bottle and mist it out...as much as my pinktoe hates the water bottle i'd bet that would work pretty well....if not just pour water back there and force it out...better than sealing it in

bro, here's a little secret i've learned over time and it's how i get my most secretive burrowers to come out of there burrows, it's my idea though! lol.. listen, get a heat clamp and a perferably a black bulb but it can be any color and attach the clamp so it aims about 1 1/2 - 2 feet away from the entrance of the burrow or in your case where your glass ends and leave the washroom in complete darkness for 20 minutes to half an hour.. once you've done all that walk into the washroom, don't close the door completely during all this, and i bet ya 10 bucks you'll find the T basking in the heat... it works with my e. murinus..

once you catch it out go in with a rubbermaid tub and cup the T on the wall.. if you try and it doesn't work, tape up the heat entrance to the washroom, open the windows (with a screen and your survailance) to let the washroom get cold and then do it.. believe me it works... the t will follow the heat source..

good luck bro..

Coat hanger, hair dryer(set on low heat or cool air), squirt some water with a spray bottle. That's all I can think of doing. I have a similar kind of mirror in my bathroom and I would try any one of those. Otherwise, I say rip that sucker off the wall! {D

I'm actually suprised no one has asked this....how the heck did it get into the bathroom mirror in the first place???
I like that heat lamp and food bait idea. He's got a good point, our P.murnius only comes out of his burrow if the heat light is on, then he's on his web soaking it up.

I have another idea that might sound a bit harsh and might be dangerous. I've only used that to take crickets out of places. The idea is to make it too hot for him in there. Maybe something like a torch.... you'll also have to use something to protect the mirror.
