Looks like a dried up crusty hole 😳

Nothing you can do but monitor her, make sure water dish is full

Will say that’s an odd place to see damage

Did it fall on something in cage?

It almost looks like there is a core of some sort. Do you know if your t is wc or cb?
Also did you notice any lumps there before you noticed the hole?

My GBB has this sore on her sternum. I was trying to research it and I couldn’t find anything that looked like it. It goes through. I will try to get better pictures tomorrow with a better light.
WAIT

Hopefully will be sorted after some future molts

I don’t believe she fell on anything and there is nothing sharp in her enclosure. I kind of go overboard when I add anything to enclosures as far as checking to make sure nothing can hurt my T.
the only other thing I can think of is when I got her about a year ago, she was in an enclosure that had beetles from meal worms. So I’m kind of thinking they got at her. As far as I’m aware she is CB.

When I got her I rehoused her and then she has been hiding so I haven’t seen her all the way out until yesterday. That’s when I noticed it. When she was rehoused I honestly didn’t check sternum so I couldn’t tell you for sure if there was a lump.
As far as I know she is CB.

Fair enough all I can suggest is to keep an eye on her, keep her water dish full and hope for the best. As long as she is still acting normal eating drinking ect it's clearly not bothering her and there isn't much you can do apart from watch her.
If the hole starts leaking all I can suggest is cornflour or if that doesn't work I was told you can use wound seal for big holes that will not stop bleeding, but only use these if the liquid is clear if she starts leaking milky or white/smelly liquid then the wound is infected and you will need to try and clean it.
I will say I have seen wounds like this on ab but usually on the abdomen, that's why I asked if she had a lump because the holes like this I have seen are from abscesses that have burst on the t.
Also why I asked if wc incase it was a parasite of some kind.
I wish I could help yous more I am so sorry I can't. Please keep us updated, and I wish you and your girl all the luck in the world.

Please keep us posted. We don’t see many of these “formations” in that spot. We could all learn from this.

i hope it was an abcess that healed itself. When i get some and they pop, it looks like that but not crusty and human flesh. Kind of like a very bad teenager zit.

with luck, next molt will be good and a fresh new spider.

Did your GBB progress OK? My GBB (sub adult female) has this too. It appeared out of no where after her first moult with me. After her second moult I checked the old moult and there was a thin transparent brittle skin over the hole but it hadn’t healed. It’s now more focused and bigger. She had no accidents and it appeared during a moult so I assumed that during her first moult with me something stuck to her sternum and damaged it. But thats a guess. There was no live food or sharp things, she was inside her webbed hammock the whole time. I kept her totally dry but with a water dish. There doesn’t seem to be anything I can do but wait. My biggest fear is it catching on something and bleeding, it’s the thing that looks like saurons eye. And it’s essentially a hole, I’ll let you know what happens down the line.

Just adding to this thread for info. My GBB is still alive and seems to be behaving “normally”. It still has a sort of creamy pustule/hole on her sternum. I am just hoping she can moult this out. I dug around in my old moults and I found the previous moult and took a photo. As I previously mentioned in her last moult the hole was covered by a thin transparent skin.

I wonder if this is something specific in GBB's, very odd two similar issues but maybe just a coincidence as well! Will be interesting to see both cases and progress with the next molt!
