sooo.. I can't find the crickets my tarantula has eaten.

I did a search and I don't know if I'm just looking for the wrong thing or what, but I turned up nothing.

Anyway, I can't find the crickets my G. rosea eats.
I know that leaving them can cause mites so I'm concerned.
The best I've been able to do is remove his feeding mat he lays down every time.
Any suggestions? Is it possible they're just disintegrating into nothing?

I realize now that I wasn't being specific enough in the terms I was using. I don't know how to delete this.

Wait, you've lost me..... if it eats them, they're gone. Do you mean the bolus? I've had spiders that didn't really leave much of a bolus after a feeding. Sometimes they leave gigantic ones and fling them across the enclosure or hang them like ornaments. How big is the spider?

Yup, I meant bolus I just couldn't remember the term for it. That was entirely my bad lol
He's fairly small so I only feed him a large cricket a week. But he's in a dry enclosure so I don't think I need to worry much.

Haha I was like wait whaaaat. Oh well yeah, a bolus from one cricket would be really small if it does a number on it. I rarely find my slings boluses. Sometimes not even my juvies'. I was gonna say, mites are less likely in a dry enclosure. I'd say it's fine.

Don't worry about a bolus of two, not a huge deal unless they start to pile up.

Depending on the size of your cricket(and t), there may not be much of a bolus left....small crickets become tiny bolus's.

Even if they pile up, it's not a big deal in a dry rosea enclosure.

Mine had a secret stash(pretty well hidden somewhere I didn't know she could put stuff there) for a couple of years that I only recently found and if was just a pile of dry stuff.

Put a tv in front of that t, put on the movie "Joe Dirt", and see if it comes out to watch.

Honestly I only removed it because I thought it'd be stuck to it. I don't think it matters if I take it out though because I left one in and he still laid down a new one.

Mine used to do this. She had a graveyard on one side of the enclosure, her living quarters on the other.

Don't stress - I can count on my hands the number of times my Ts have left anything substantial behind. When they do, it's usually because I've given them something that's a bit too large for them to finish off. Any other time, by the time they're done the boluses are too small to even try retrieving.

My Pampho has never, ever left anything behind after eating. Not a crumb. My Lp will sometimes eat the entire meal as well.

I rarely find a bolus either -- and in a dry tank, it's no biggie.
Now P cambri likes to put leftovers in the water dish -- that will stink. If you miss the disgusting look of the water bowl, you certainly can't miss the odor!
I have heard avics do this too, but mine hasn't, thankfully.

I gave my B.vagans female a male dubia roach that was twice her size once, the only evidence left in the morning was half of one wing. that's pretty impressive clean up if you ask me.

My "rule of thumb" is that if it's large enough to see, it should be removed. If it's not, it's likely not to cause any problems, so I don't worry about it.

However, if you see a small spot of mold or something, it's probably an old bolus. Spot clean it as soon as you see it.

I'm brand new to the hobby and I was really worried about cleaning up everything, but I've found with the small/medium crickets I feed my juvie B. albopilosum theres just never anything left. I'm glad someone else asked about it though lol good to know it isn't abnormal.
