Hey everyone,

My G. rosea just molted and I wanted to spread out the molt. I remember reading somewhere (couldn't find where) that there is a solution I can make to soak it in so I could spread out the legs and stuff without damaging it. Anyone know how or know of a site that tells how?

Thanks,

Eric

I use water and a drop of dish soap.
soak the skin for a few minutes and it's ready to go.

water

i put the molt on some moist papertowels in a sealed tupperware and let it sit for a couple days. everything is as soft or softer than when it is first shed. if you are just trying to sex you can just use a paintbrush (SOFT bristled!) and paint on some water to the abdomenal skin

don't forget about it if you do that, though... it will mold up

I can second this method. A skin once dried and resoftened isnt as flexible as it was originally but it still works.

70% ethly alcohol works instantly, I bet rubbing would do the same. Molt will be a little discolored afterwards though.

i have always just thrown them in a little bowl of hot water for about 10-20 mins and they are very flexible and they don't lose color:? much quicker, much easier, still very good results.
