The reason why this works isn't because the soap is an insecticide. It's because the soap breaks the surface tension of the water, preventing it from making droplets in the way that it normally would. The insects get caught up in it, and essentially drown.I know I am paranoid, but I know alittle soap can go along way. With that being said, My neighbor sprayed his bushes with soapy water killing every invert that moved. It was 10% dish soap and I realize the direct contact thing but he drove me nuts with the obsessive spraying.
As far as even a light film of soap with "T"s, I wont chance it.
Soap makes water more effective for drowning small things.
