And no permits required for T's. We have no restrictions on T's here.
I couldn't possibly disagree more, with every aspect. Why does the shipping price not make sense? Good luck finding those two T's anywhere in the region around texas. I may as well order from the UK than from wisconsin or Minnesota.
Even with the shipping cost its still saving me near half what I would spend on one here. Both of these are hard to come by where im from. A few months ago one of the pet shops here actually had a GBB but it was a hundred dollars for a 1/2" sling while the spider shop has a 2" sling for fourteen. No matter how expensive the shipping may be, it makes alot more sense for me to look abroad rather than purchase over priced T's from here.
We have no restrictions shipping WITHIN the country, abroad is a different story....heck, we can't even order from Canada without tremendous added cost, and I wish we could because tarantulascanada always has a super stock and great prices on a lot of hard to find ts here. And no permits required for T's. We have no restrictions on T's here.
I know (i will not mention the name) a UK (England) based seller who ship international with no problems to U.S, Japan, lol even Arab Emirates like UAE etc T's, scorpions etc without issuesHold on, you are in Texas, and ordered 2 spiders from the UK? Why? Wouldn't you need to get import permits of some sort?
These spiders are readily available to you in Texas. Heck a 1/2" vagans sling might not even cost you $5.
I'm really scratching my head on this one...am I missing something?
$10 shipping, that doesn't even make sense IF its a legal international t shipment.
Well, yes, i hate them, you knowSorry for you loss, my friend, even though I cannot say to be sorry for AS Mer*a 1927 only getting a point against Hellas Verona at home!
Its not illegal for them to ship out but IS illegal for us to import without the proper US permits and going through the necessary hoops.I know (i will not mention the name) a UK (England) based seller who ship international with no problems to U.S, Japan, lol even Arab Emirates like UAE etc T's, scorpions etc without issues![]()
Yes, i know about "Brown Boxing" issue of course, man. I know about U.S rules/laws about. Just that i think there's some people that just doesn't care about. Its not illegal for them to ship out but IS illegal for us to import without the proper US permits and going through the necessary hoops.
That's not to say people do/haven't done it. search brown boxing for all the drama
Long live Texas my man. That's a great state, the Lone Star One. I envy you. No permits or other such crap for T's (unlike here). No weapons limitations (unlike here). My hat off to Texas. Remember Alamo! And no permits required for T's. We have no restrictions on T's here.
Very true!!. I'm not willing to risk getting my collection taken should the USFWS decide to make an example of the little guys as well as the dealers that don't comply with import laws.Yes, i know about "Brown Boxing" issue of course, man. Yes, but let me tell you this. Except for U.S (and i have little doubts about since i saw those last threads here about USPS VS FedEX "feud") i have noticed that "everything" is a "brown box". I mean... which mail authorize T's, or other venomous inverts/animals shipping? No one, i tell you. Even Royal Mail (UK) one, IMO, of the best straight mind one. Hence everything is a "brown box". I know EU sellers that state "if you want a, let's say, anonimous parcel state that on the order" etc so lol at the end.Very true!!. Geez @saturnthegrey. Texans may have the mentality of being separate nation, but a recent check of North American maps shows Texas is indeed a state within the union. As such, Texans are subject to US federal law. After reading the above, I'm quite sure you didn't pay the $250 USFW import fee and didn't pay US customs. Thus, you are a criminal [LINK] and have just given USFW, US Customs, and one of the oldest federal law enforcement agencies in the United States, the US Postal Inspection Service, all the information they need to come knock on your door! And no permits required for T's. We have no restrictions on T's here.
Well, you can't know that. I mean, being 100% sure of that. All the UK and EU sellers i know, here in Italy in the authorized T's fair, possess the CITES CB papers for CITES animals/inverts (in this case, genus Brachypelma) so i doubt that a serious shop like The Spider Shop & staff aren't aware of that.Nice species by the way. Oh, but that reminds me, one more thing. You also violated international CITES law by importing Brachypelma without CITES paperwork.
Fair enough Chris LXXIX. Let's ask the OP to post a photo of the CITES paperwork that accompanied the single, Brachypelma vagans sling that came overseas parcel post, sans USFW and Customs paperwork. Heck, let's ask the Spider Shop to comment. Did y'all send this spider parcel post to saturnthegrey with CITES paperwork? In your court, saturnthegrey and Spider Shop . . .Well, you can't know that. Here is night time if you have a CITES protected animal without a CITES CB paper.
I have not grilled you, man. I love raw human flesh u_uI was not aware whatsoever of any import taxes and such, yes I know i'm ignorant because i'm a "texan." I cancelled my order and I am in the process of looking for something closer (not much luck yet again).
You guys grilled me pretty badly but it was for a very good reason. My apologies, Im still new to this in many ways. Im doing my best.
I would have really loved to have those T's but for now I will most likely end up getting a Euathlus sp. Red or stick with the B. Vagans. GBB are just too pricey around here unfortunately. I just never assumed it would be that difficult but I should have read into it more.
I always try to take advice from others, you know the whole "two heads are better than one." saying. Well it is very dead on in this instance.
Try not to take it personally. Like any hobby, people can get pretty passionate about it.I was not aware whatsoever of any import taxes and such, yes I know i'm ignorant because i'm a "texan." I cancelled my order and I am in the process of looking for something closer (not much luck yet again).
