About seven weeks ago I saw a T. stimi in the LPS. It looked like a sub-adult female (just a guess) sitting in a critter keeper on bark chips with only a small water bowl. I generally don't buy turantulas from the LPS because they sell wild caught and don't know how it care for them, but she looked so depressed I felt compelled to save her. She settled into her new home quickly and ate like a horse. Then three weeks after I bought her she stopped eating. I guessed pre-molt so I maintained high humidity and gave her privacy. I know molting can be a critical time for any Goliath, and much more so since I had no idea of what she went through durring capture and shipping. After a month of waiting my wife told me when I got home from work that the stirmi was on her back. First thing this morning I saw she had emerged healthy, large and magnificent. Talk about relieved! I just had to share.
