I live in Southern New Jersey and we see white faced hornets, yellow jackets, brown wasps and many other stinging insects including the ant-type kind. Whenever I've gone camping I've delt with the white faced hornets, yellow jackets and brown wasps. I'm not worried about brown wasps because in my area they are not very aggressive and you have to attack their nest physically to rile them up. Now yellow jackets are very very annoying, but I can deal with them. But what is more fun are the white faced hornets. They are aggressive and can sting if they feel you are in their way. When I go camping I see these more than anything else. They are always chasing after the flies and other insects. But I've learned to get along with them most of time. I move carefully around them and just stay out of their way. With that, we get along just fine. Anyway, mosquitos don't like me too much so I'm not bothered by them, its gnats I hate!

ps. you guys have given me great ideas for dealing with annoying insects, thanks!!

My nickname is now Lil beaver (don't laugh) thats
before the name had a derogatory meaning.
Beavers are wonderfull animals. Do people
smoke them out their homes, set fire to
their homes? Around here we have muskrats
and their shelters look simular, but they don't
build dams. I guess you don't have to use
smoke to get a tarantula out of its arboreal
home, but that wouldn't work for any deep
into a burrow would it? Guess you have to
dig them out?
