I am so sorry to hear your loss. It is possible it died from some other unknown reason and ended up in the dish. If it was not eating it was maybe dehydrated. I have heard of sick spiders ended up going to the water dish before dying.

If you post a couple good pics of the enclosure it was in, everyone can offer you advice on what to do or change for your next sling.

Sorry for your loss, slings can be tricky at first until you get everything figured out.
