Hi, so our tenrec, Chom Chom, seems to be sick. She (assumed female, we don't actually know) is sneezing and has crustiness around her nose and eyes which we think is snot, and also she sometime has little snot bubbles coming from her nose. She tries to clean the crustiness off but isn't succeeding, and she won't use her dust bath, which is a problem we've had for a long time, before she was sick. She makes these little squeaks that I think are because of her stuffy nose? She also seems to be having trouble noticing the crickets we give her, though she might just not be hungry because she's been torporing, but today we put her in her small travel cage with a couple to see if she could catch one easier, and she caught one and tried to chew it but it fell out of her mouth. She picked it up again and tried to chew it again but then it fell out again, almost entirely intact. It may have been missing its legs, but I don't know if she ate them, and it was still alive or at least twitching. It's possible she only attacked it out of instinct but wasn't actually hungry, but I'm worried it's related to her sickness. She's been more active recently and running or at least walking on her wheel, so that's a plus. Does anyone know what's wrong with her or what we can do to help? I know we should take her to the vet but my parents really don't wan't to deal with the bill if we can avoid it. I'm really worried about her and I hope she's going to be okay.
