I got this Sicarius sp. Chile from Todd Gearheart and was wondering if anyone could identify the species or if anyone had any literature regarding the Sicarius species found in Chile.

Also, what are the care requirements? I have her on sand right now and a small bottle cap for water. Should I remove the bottle cap?

Probably S terrosus, just remove the waterdish, they will get the water they need from their pray.

Remember this is a very venomous spider, and watch your fingers ;)

These are extremely easy to care for: sand, food, warmth, dry. That's about it. I just hope you knew what you were buying. These are the absolute zenith of arachnid toxicity, truly a heinous venom. Honestly, these should only be kept experts/ long-term keepers, as there is NO antivenom safety net, and very little treatment available. Safety first!!!

Oh I'm aware of the danger. They're pretty interesting when it comes to feeding behavior. The way they bury themselves under the sand in 5 seconds is truly unique. As far as lifespans go, they live as long as some tarantulas.

Iwe read they can live up to 15 years, if only all true spiders would do that :worship:

Regards Mikael.
