I used to be an avid keeper, usually had around three at a time. Got into tarantulas and jumpers and out of the betta hobby.
Back in with a halfmoon king male that I couldn't resist, and I have a 20 gallon I'm working on. All live plants.

Oh, he's a real gem... I'd have had a hard time walking by that one myself (kinda looks female in the pic). I have absolutely no choice but to bring one home from a cricket run sometimes, they're just SO beautiful! I literally have to divert my eyes, because at one point we ended up with 8 in the house, between my daughter, her mother, & myself...all kept in those typical gallon fish bowls..but it was worth the labor & weekly trunk load of spring water, LoL). So now I'm going to congratulate you once more on your absolutely stunning little fishy there, & do my best to forget about this thread before I need crickets again

Right?? I'm 23 now, but as a teenager I was obsessed with aquatics and I think I had like 15 or so? They're pretty irresistible

And yeah, he does look like a female in that pic. He's happy to be in his home now and is gaining even more color! And flares up when the cats get curious and puts on a lovely show

Awesome betta!

When I was a youngster, my grandfather got me one of these as a gift for getting good grades on my report card. My mom didn't want me to have it for some weird reason, so my grandfather kept it in a vase with a plant.

Not ideal at all, but he managed to keep it alive for a few years!

when people give these fish a chance, and keep them in better conditions then they are sold, they really shine.
