Should I sell Jumping Spider Enclosures?

Hello everyone!

I recently made a DIY Spider enclosure for myself and a friend suggested I should sell them. I've been looking on etsy and have seen tons of enclosures selling for almost 200 Dollars! (Not that those artists shouldn't be charging that price, their enclosures are BEAUTIFUL and amazingly artistic!). Mine may not be as good as those others, however, I was thinking maybe I can offer a cheaper alternative for spider lovers who might not have 200 to drop on a cute spider enclosure. If I did sell, I don't think I'd be including a light like mine has (unless people really want it). But everything else would be similar. The ventilation holes are about 1/16th of an inch and the moss is glued down on the bottom but in a way that you can't see/feel the glue, but it's still springy like moss. A mess free carpet for our spider friends! The mushroom, signs, and decorative flowers are store bought decorations with some editing (I painted the mushroom to look like a fairy house). The rope bridge and twine ball I hand made. The cork is a feeding hole with no gaps and the cork fits snugly. I was also thinking I'd include a small thermometer on top the tank. Mine is attached to the magnet that holds the twin ball so it is atop the tank, just above the twine ball.

The rope bridge and twine ball are both magnetic and moveable along with the small plastic feeding bowl. Everything else is glued down and cannot be moved. The enclosure itself is 5.9"L x 5.9"Wx 9"H

I think I would also include a small pair of feeding tongs and a small fine mist spray bottle. This way the buyer is all ready for their new spider friend!

Would you buy an enclosure like this? What do you think is a fair price?

Thanks in advance!!

This is the cutest enclosure I have ever seen. I have no idea how much you should sell for, but my god, don't sell yourself short, please.

Personally I prefer more naturalistic enclosures when I keep jumping spiders but I could definitely see people buying those, you could talk to a vendor a local reptile expo about you making those and then selling them at their table and you split the profits

Oh gosh! Thank you so much! I wasn't sure if they were nice enough to sell, but now I feel like they're good to sell! I was thinking maybe 69.99. I feel like that's a good price for a sort of starter kit. I'm trying to make it so if you buy my enclosure, you're all set for your spider friend and just need food :) I think 69.99 is a good price for a full set up and that way people who can't spend 200 dollars can at least get something fun and nice. :p

I was also thinking about offering replacement bottoms? The bottom decorations are glued down to the opening so I thought maybe for half price I could offer just a differently decorated bottom so that people who want a change in theme don't need to buy an entirely new enclosure. I don't know, just and idea :)

Excellent idea.
75 sounds a much better price, then you could sell replacement bottoms for 30 which would be a more attractive price for the bottom compared with the full price of 75.
Go for it.

Thank you guys so much! I'm going to start selling them as I have so much fun designing and making them and I would love to see more people get excited for spiders! ^-^

I love them! Maybe include some magnetic ledges near the top since they mostly make their hammocks at the top. Of course-- if you have one like my Phidippus princeps pulcherrimus male who likes to make them low and high.. Lol
