I got a G. Swammerdami in today and it looks to be in premolt, I'm nervous because I don't know when it last ate or even when it started to refuse food. I'm also concerned of the stress of shipping might affect the molting process. Anyone have any similar experiences? Thanks

Just get it properly housed and leave it alone. If it seals up its burrow or hide, the molt is imminent. It is at this critical period to leave it be until it appears again. Premolt is undeterminable amount of time. Its molt could be days, weeks, and months away.

Ts go through this all the time, normally fine too. It’s the owners that don’t do well 😝

My dealer won’t let me leave the shop, with my car, if a tarantula looks like its in premolt. These people have a trained eye and knowledge.

best of luck to your tarantula. They are resiliant!

Wow nice seller. The exotic shop I got my last t from injured its leg and told me it was my fault on the phone that they wouldn’t had sold it to me if I had noticed and complained in store. Like the employees that hurt its leg arent to blame.

It was this t which already lived longer then 3 species I got at that store that died within a month or two of purchase. So that’s 3 sick Ts rip $150 lost 😡 and only 2 healthy ones I bought . One was so bad I returned it so technically 4.
Hopefully it’s female , I guess some ones they have are healthy but it was starved
