OK, SO LIKE, UH, I'M NEW TO THIS HOBBY AS OF 8-29 AND STILL LEARNING ABOUT MY GRAMMASTOLA RED HAIR. A FEW MINUTES AGO SHE STARTED CLIMBING THE GLASS. HER ENCLOSURE IS DRY SOIL, WHICH SHE SEEMS TO TOLERATE QUITE WELL. SHE'S IN 10 GAL. TANK WITH A SHALLOW WATER DISH AND A LOG-LIKE HIDING PLACE. THE TEMP IS FINE AND BLAH BLAH BLAH..... NOW I THOUGHT, OR READ SOMEWHERE, OR BOTH, THAT A HEALTHY T. IS AN ACTIVE T., AND AN ACTIVE T. IS GOOD. BUT I'VE NEVER SEEN HER CLIMB THE GLASS. SHE STAYED ON IT AND SOON CLIMBED TO THE TOP. AFTER HANGING OUT THERE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, SHE CAME DOWN, WENT INTO A CORNER, AND NOW SHE'S SLEEP. SO, SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT'S THE CLIMBING ALL ABOUT? AREN'T THEY GROUND SPIDERS? WILL SHE PERIODICALLY SURPRISE ME WITH NEW "TRICKS"? ANYBODY KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT?

enjoy your bug they are really cool mine do that sometimes for no "apparent" reason. now that that is covered.

LOL ok, please stop shouting i can hear fine lol Please note that all caps is considered shouting. all caps on one word such as THIS is stressing THAT word. all caps in a phrase , SUCH AS THIS stresses that phrase. All caps in the entire post or a large part of it is considered shouting and or flaming. If you increase the font size while doing it, and use bold colors it stresses the all caps even more so and is considered rudely shouting. Just so you know.

Im pretty sure this is why my "curly hair" is chillin on his log since I have put him in. He dont stay on the coco-fiber very long. Its still pretty damp and about 75% humidity in there.

My new curly hair has been sitting up against the moist sphagnum moss for two days, so go figure.

Maybe he was dehydrated. I read they do this over water bowls and other "soaked" things when they need water. Maybe?

i wouldn't use that coco-fiber stuff, or only mix a little of it into the soil used in the tank, as it keeps moisture quite nice. but its crap for digging spiders.

Coir mixed with play sand and compacted down is excellent for burrowers....used that for my king.

Why use sand at all?
That was the advice I got from the experts on the BTS......think they may have some idea what they are talking about......at a guess:rolleyes:
It worked fine as well......no cave ins and the king built very elaborate tunnels.

I used to worry that my pulchra was always climbing the wall. He still climbs the wall, and just sits contentedly, but I don't worry anymore - I'm resigned to the fact that it's just something he does, and if he's happy, I'm happy. Plus it affords an excellent view of his underside, which is a view you don't get when he stays earth-bound.

By the way, I was a little put off by the OP's knee-jerk response to Ariel's rather diplomatic suggestion that the OP observe posting etiquette. It's the OP that owes the apology, not Ariel IMO.;)
