Hi so here is the situation- I currently house 5 different millipede species across 3 tanks and as you can imagine- the fungus gnats are going wild. Mosquito dunks are out of the question as Im unable to get them anywhere in my country, sticky fly traps are already everywhere and Im vaccuming the gnats everyday. There is just too many of those losers.
Im considering SF nematodes but heard mixed opinions- so I have a crucial question- WILL THEY BOTHER MY MILLIPEDES OR HAVE ANY IMPACT ON THEIR WELL BEING. Same for springtails- I love those little fellas and have 6 separate colonies of them on various mediums. But in my millie tanks, except springtail gang, I noticed also a lot of random beneficial nematodes and some grain mites that I have under control. With all those pests the competition is high and I worry that adding SF nematodes may do even more damage.
Another thing is- my two T.Dollfusi had been mating a lot recently and Im expecting the female to lay eggs soon. If the SF nematodes run out of their fungus gnat larvae food will they go after new born millipedes?
Im torn and really hope some of you folks, have some experience with SF nematodes in millipede enclosures.
Thank you in advance!
