Hi all,
Today I checked on my Sericopelma sp Darien female I was expecting her to have moulted and to my surprise she had an egg sac. I have never paired her but she was bought from a well known UK shop as an af 9 months ago. My questions are;

1.If they paired her could it take this sp that long to drop a sac?
2.If she keeps it and it is viable how long would it take till I had ewl?
3.if its viable when would I need to pull it?
4.How many spiderlings can this sp have in a sac?
5.Even if she had been paired previously and had waited 9 months to drop could the sac be viable or is there a high chance it's just a fantom sac?

After I seen her with the sac I took 5 pics from a few inches away from the viv then put her bk , I have covered her over with some black material (I sew so had some spare) and she is on the shelf I use least so she gets disturbed as little as possible, just incase this isn't a fantom sac rather be safe then sorry. I have also emailed the company I got her off to see if they still had anything on her but it's a long shot and they haven't replied so I am asking for help here.
I haven't ever dealt with a t sac before I have raised a few true spider sacs but this is my first t sac, i am excited and I want to make sure my info is right for this just incase it is viable, so any and all info about Sericopelma and their egg sacs is appreciated greatly 😊

One of the pics I quick snapped of proud mummy with a sac bigger then a golf ball, she is 7+inches and is on her tip toes to accommodate the sac 🥰

Is it possible she was wild caught? Often with wild caught females they will drop sacs, sometimes viable, sometimes not.

As for specifics, have you searched through breeding reports in Arachnoboards? If there aren't any for this particular species you might get good information about other Sericopelma and can at least attempt to extrapolate. Probably a good place to start while you wait to see if anyone else chimes in.

No as far as I am aware she was cb , I won't get wc t's , I am not a breeder so their is no point in wc for me I don't need any fresh genetics so unless it says cb I don't get them. I did not go through on here I googled but I will try looking specifically on here. Thank you 😊

Phantom eggsack or not, the eggs take the same amount of time to develop internally before being fertilized during the eggsack creation process. She has laid an eggsack, so I'd say yes it could take this species 9 months to drop. The question really is are they fertile and was she paired prior. You can attempt to dig into her history a bit, but honestly IMO if she hasn't molted with you yet, it's just best to treat the eggsack as potentially viable. Realistically though, if she truly is CB, it's probably a phantom. Which leads to:

2.If she keeps it and it is viable how long would it take till I had ewl?

Set a reminder in the calendar for about 30 - 32 days after you first sighted the eggsack and pull it on that date. During this time period, really the only thing you'll need to get ready is a simple incubator setup like the nested deli design. When you open the eggsack up and get the eggs in the incubator, if they're not EWL, you can keep them until you're 100% sure they're unfertilized. If they are fertilized and you have some EWL's, then you can start worrying about:

4.How many spiderlings can this sp have in a sac?

If anything, just take the eggsack as a sign that her captive conditions are optimal and ideal ;) .

Thank you so much as you can tell I was totally caught of guard I thought she was getting ready to moult 😆

I did get in touch with the shop she came from they said she came from a privet supplier so they didn't know but they have messaged the seller to ask so I am waiting for a reply.
I knew some of the bigger t's take a while to make sacs my SO's blondi took a year to make her babys so I knew some sp can take a while that's why I asked on here if she could take 9 months + to drop.
Either way dud or not, like you said I am treating the sac as viable just incase, I have covered her viv, she is on a shelf that I use least so she isn't disturbed , the heat on that shelf sits at 23°daytime and 18° nighttime and it is also rather dark since i disconnected the t lights n my plan is leave her well alone. I will make sure her water dish stays full but apart from that she will get no interaction. I have stuff ready for the nursery pot just incase and I always have my t's bottled water on the side so it's room temp I assume it will be OK to use that for my nursery pot too?

I said exactly the same to my SO even if it is a dud at least I know she's comfortable or she would have destroyed her sac soon as she made it 😊 makes me rather proud in a strange way, I have no idea if this sp is difficult to get a sac off but I assume so as I found 1 breeding report and it was from 7 years ago on YouTube 😆 someone called Philth on here had a rubronitens egg sac (i went through the breeding reports) that was successful so I did try n message him because they are atleast the same genus, i thought it might give me some sort of idea what to expect but I got no reply but I have never interacted with them on ab so i half expected no answer 🤷🏻‍♀️
I am extremely grateful for your reply though because no one seemed to be able to give me any info at all 😊 So thank you 🙂 I will update this post though dud or viable, it will be 30 days since I seen the sac on the 7th so 🤞 around then i will be posting ewl pics 😊

@Philth would be Tom Patterson. He's been extremely helpful for me in the past and the best way to get ahold of him would be through his website (Hardcore Arachnids) or email directly (tompatterson77@gmail.com).

I will find out by the 7th of next month anyways just me being impatient 😊 thank you I4nsky
