Scorpions sharpening their swords

I could have titled this post something else but I reframed...

I've caught my V. spinigerus females bringing over and sucking/licking their stingers.

In all the the years of raising African species I've never seen this! I've seen them bringing it over and grooming it and examining it. Maybe they sucked it but I never noticed this.

Any comments or explanations...:?

Like you said yourself, they are grooming themselves. They have no tongue, thus licking is impossible for them to do Strange that you never saw this with your African species, because all scorpions groom themselves, they are very clean animals.....

and whip spiders and all other insects. Only BUMS don't wash themselves.....
