they both look like buthus spp to me... although the darker one does look very L.Qish... Probably isn't though. either way they can't sting; the aculeus has been removed.

I actually researched more nations that eat scorpions and there are quite a few. Scorpions are a popular snack in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, parts of China, Indonesia, Africa etc. I never knew that scorps were considered a food source for humans. In most species the taste resembles a crab or a lobster, just a little more bitter.

He didn't tear it down low enough. The venom gland isn't located in the bulb itself, but maybe one more segment below it. When my parents were in Cambodia everyone would rip off 2 segments below the bulb of the stinger just to be safe. I wouldn't think it would be that harmful to ingest venom though since it has to go into your bloodstream to do any serious damage.
