Scarlet vs Bumblebee Millipedes

I’m thinking of getting a few ivory millipedes and wanted to add another species into their tank. I’ve read that ivories like to stay on the surface, which I appreciate.

If you could pick a second species to get which would you choose and why — scarlet or bumblebee?

I’d like something that is somewhat visible from time to time and that has similar care requirements to the ivories.

Well, out of the two, I would have to say that scarlets are my preference based on their surface activity while at the same time I would say that bumblebees are more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. However, I like how scarlets look a lot as well. I've just noticed that my scarlets tend to be more surface-active, and on that note, hardier than my colony of bumblebees. My only suggestion is to keep in mind that these are very different millipedes, in the sense that scarlets will never compete with ivories with how often they appear. Since you said you're looking for something that is visible from time to time, then my answer is the scarlet millipede. They'll be out more often as well if you feed supplementally, with cucumbers or other organic vegetables. Hope this helps!
