samon Island birdeater?

One of the pet shops in town calls me when they get a new arrival, and today they called and said they have a SAMON ISLAND BIRDEATER? Do you guys think maybe its a samon pink birdeater...have you ever heard of a samon pink being called this or have you heard of a samon island birdeater?

Odds are it's L. parahybana, but you never know.

I asked for the species name they didnt have one....They discribed it as 2" and being mostly black with a little bit of different colored hairs, what does a samon pink look like when this small.

It's probably not "samon" but salmon pink birdeater...this is the common name of L. parahybana like it was already said. parahybanas are black with orange/rose hairs so ya it must be one...

As slings or small juvies they're kinda unremarkable. Dark brown with lighter brown setae. They get the pink/orangish setae coloring along with blacker coat as they get bigger. If it looks healthy and isn't overpriced you may as well pick it up. It will be a couple of years probably before it's ready for one of your big elaborate enclosures though ;]

I know it will be a while before its ready for a elaborate enclosure but its the only space available right now so it might get one anyway.

Rob, my little Salmon Pink (Lasiodora Parahybana) just molted into that dark stage about a week ago. And-Yeah I have'nt found a petshop anywhere local to me that knows scientific names. My small shop I deal with had a Aphonopelma Seemani labeled as 'striped leg trantula", seriously-spelled just like that...TRANTULA . Thats all he knew about it.
Anyway-here's a pic of my Salmon Pink now & she about 2" maybe a tad more...Look like this?..

She is in a Beta tank right now-just her size.

I have not seen it yet but they are saying its black...I think it might be a hatian, I hope its a salmon pink, I am also getting a 4" cobalt blue possibly...thanks for the info.

Common names are a pain in the ass. I have one local shop where I like to get T's because it specifically sells exotics, not like other places which mostly sell fish and the odd poorly kept spider. But it hardly ever labels them with scientific names so you never really know what you're getting unless it's one you recognise. I don't get why they can't just put in the effort to label them right.

I know the guy who owns a shop near where I live and all of his spiders are labeled scientifically. The only reason he even has them is because of me, and he is very knowledgeable now as he has done his research and asked me a lot of questions.
