I was searching the forums looking for information on Chaerilus celebensis and came across a post about how they can be kept like emperor scorpions but at a cooler temperature.

So it got me thinking what other species of scorpions can be kept without additional heating. So far in the search I see Chaerilus and Euscorpius genus. Any other suggestions? Or if the info I found in search is wrong / outdated please let me know, I have no problem setting up the heat pads etc if needed

Heterometrus sp. mine are probably H. silenus or H. laoticus, possibly one each.

i have been keeping 2 scorplings for a while around 1,5 years and they have molted twice so far.

i keep them at about 19-20° all winter, rising slowly to a max of up to 28°C in summer.

considering i have been advised to keep Scolopendra dehaani below 22°C and thats been working well for the same amount of time it isn't all that surprising.

If you look up some of the temperatures that orchids from the philipines like, you would be surprised. Some of them enjoy extreme day-night temperature differences of up to 20°C. So these cosmopolitan inverts are pretty tough.

Olivierus martensii, also known as Chinese golden scorpion, widly spread around all eastern asia; all species under the genus iurus, they are huge and can be found mostly in Greece or Turkey, some Europeans are selling them; Liocheles australasiae, they are parthenogenic little scorpions that can be found in China and Japan. The picture is my female iurus kinzelbachi, she could be gravid but I am not very sure.

Before I had heaters I kept my AFS at room temperature for a couple years and they were fine. I wouldnt necessarily suggest this, just that it was okay for awhile. I have used a heater for the past 3 years.

Wow, good to see it’s doing so well. I had an H arizonensis wayyy back in the day before I really knew what I was doing. I didn’t get as much time with it so I thought I did something wrong but looking back I think it was just an old wild caught adult

I didn’t consider desert species for my research since I assumed they all needed heat and didn’t want to deal with it for multiple enclosures, but I remember these guys were a heavy burrowing species so maybe they dig to get away from the heat.
