There's some stuff on roachcrossing.com I really want to buy, and can't find elsewhere. I really can't tell if the site has been updated lately, though, and his facebook posts are pretty dated.

I sent him an email, but no response for a while. I'm wondering, is he just out for the holidays? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here..

Same thing happened to me with this guy. Seems like a pattern; he quits, then re-announces he is back up a few weeks/months later. One time it took him over 3 months to answer my email and by that time I already had everything I needed. Who knows, he may just be out for the holidays like you said! I guess you can only wait and see.

From my experience he usually takes a decent while to respond to emails but I’ve met him at expos, he’s a good guy with good stock.

Yes, Kyle and I have swapped emails a few times, and responses were not always really quick, but they were always really thorough. Also, it's not like it's a huge organization . If he's out on a research trip, responses can take a while. Once an order and a shipment is in the works though, he is very thorough to make sure you received your animals in good condition. I can recommend Roach Crossing if you aren't in a hurry.

He has had some major stuff happening in his life fairly recently (bought a house, moved, fixed up bug room in house, car accident, other things) so that all slowed him down a bit. He's working his way back into things and is working through a mountain of email now.

He's always sent me good stuff, this is the first time it's taken a long time to get an email back from him I can remember, but he might be on a research trip or something.

I used to buy from him all the time a year or so ago.

I see Kyle every year at Tinley Park and he is a great guy and has some awesome bugs if you can ever get to his table. He is obviously light years ahead of me when it comes to keeping bugs (I know its a measure of distance and not time) but he always talks to me like I am an equal and takes an interest in the things I have. I've bought from, sold to and traded with him on numerous occasions and will most likely do so again in October.

I can't speak to his online or email habits as I've only dealt with him in person except one time I sent him an email regarding a millipede I bought from him and he didn't respond but I knew I was going to see him in a few months so I didn't push it. I wouldn't be concerned about getting quality animals from him though and as pannaking22 says he has had some personal issues lately. I think he says on his site (linked in pks post) that he had a sewer backup and it affected his bugroom and put him out of commission for a while.
