That setup will be great for him! Letting him bask is great, mabye you and him can bond by feeding him his favorite fresh veggie while he is outside, make him walk over to you and when he does give him the veggie. He will get much needed excersise, and he will learn to come to you for his treat.

Do they eat any fruit or worms?

When my sulcata was a baby, I bought 4, 2X12 boards that were 10 or 12 ft long and I nailed the ends together to make a box around a small tree in the backyard. I'm on bedrock so it couldn't dig under, but just in case, I stapled chicken wire to the base of the big square that was about 2 feet wide. So the chicken wire was flat on the ground. Then I put a thin layer of dirt over the chicken wire. But I had to watch out for my dog and raccoons. Took care of that with a cheap electric fence. I think it cost 30$. But if you don't have a big dog or raccoons, I don't think you'd have to worry.

Gets cold here too! Not as cold as Wash but it freezes here. So from Nov to March, I'd keep it inside......Well, I would put it in the back of my truck in the garage with some heat lamps and just drive my other car:D. You could have both an outdoor and indoor enclosure. Of course, you are still living in someone elses house, right (your parents)? So, maybe later. It will come sooner than you think.

I kept mine outside in a Pen for a long time, he was very happy out there, had all the grass he could take, no predators, and he even dug so much he hit the dirt, and made a kinda mud puddle.
