Why exactly?
We already have Robin moths in culture here, their from the USA the last time i checked...
You want to risk having an alien species take hold in foreign ecosystems? haven't we seen enough of that?

Aww, sorry to hear. I hope more get into breeding these fellas. I'd love to have them but I think non-native lycaenids are illegal. Either that or having live collections of these insects aren't as popular as arachnids. :(

Anyone who can drive across the northwest boundary of Columbus,Ohio
(and who would like to breed native silk moths)
might like to know that:

I could spare some young sumac trees if anyone feels able to dig for them.
And I could also spare OTHER young native trees-all free for the digging- because both birds and squirrels have been planting trees without regard to whether the new trees' locations are convenient for me OR for my friends: who could also spare a bonanza of young native trees for anyone who feels sufficiently enterprising to work for them.

Silk moths would love these.

Yours very truly,

Louise Esther Rothstein.

I never see live native silk moths...I believe that far too many people around here are "chemical crazy" to leave them alive.

I look at all these young native trees that native caterpillars could eat...if there wasn't all this spraying around here ...

-And I wonder whether the nearest saturniid fan lives close enough to
Columbus,Ohio to transplant some of these junior trees to a safer place?

Than too close to a private residence for the trees' own good...
-And too close to spraying neighbors to give any caterpillars a chance.

If somebody can help, please contact me at

Yours very truly,

Louise E. Rothstein.
