Hi,
Is this suitable for jumping spiders, I use natural cork bark etc for tarantulas, but I've done this with straws, I assume the spider won't care, what dyou all think
Apart from it looking absolutely awful I don't think it's suitable no. Stick with cork bark.

If you put a fake leaf/leaves and secure them through one of the air holes the jumper might make the hammock under them. That way you won't have to worry about the top when you're taking it off.

I used to use a sling pot stuck to the side at the top of an enclosure and that worked great.

I wanna get some fake leaves but our LPS charges £10 a bag, and I can't order stuff online (long story but let's just say I'm blacklisted by the bank) and our poundshop doesn't have any, nightmare!!! But next payday I'll get em! Good idea with the lid Il do that, cheers

I’d recommend putting something towards the top, a small tube or something similar, big enough for it to fit in, where it can make its nest/hammock. We used a small fish tank ornament, but you can get similar results with a small vial.

The entirety of the inside of her house is now webbed into a huge hammock. I’ll get pics tomorrow if I can. Feeding is easy as well. When she’s in there we lay the food at her “front door” and she grabs it before heading back into her house.

Yea, mine has a cork bark in it and it’s a zilla enclosure. It made its web on the top of the enclosure.

I'd like to cut a large round hole in the lid and attach a small pot to the top, like a dome on the lid, so if Spidey makes his nest at the top, I can take the lid off no problem and just pop it down on the table an he can't escape. Photo attached of idea, might be stupid idea, I'm good at having them

So far he's just made a nest on the shoulder of the jar, also I made a few of my air holes too big and the fruit flies can squeeze through! Bugger 🤔

You can just switch feeders, our girl enjoys worms and crickets. No need to worry at that point about the air holes. They may be small but they’re pretty savage with what they choose to take on as prey.

If you add a tube to the shoulder or like a small container just big enough for spidey, the cup at the top wouldn’t be necessary. I’ll attempt a bit of photo manipulation to show you what I mean. It won’t be pretty but it should get the point across lol.

Cool, that's about how big the jar is, mines 7" tall 4.5" round, my substrate is a bit moist from making it, so I'll let it dry out, I need to get a sprayer, they're only £1! I just flick water at the side in the meantime. But it looks I'm in the right track.

I'm new to spider, i kept wild jumpers, which are tiny here in the UK, then last month I got a t. Albo tarantula, hes about an inch and a half big, he likes to burrow so he has lots of substrate I keep half damp, half dry so he can choose and a bit of cork bark that he's dug under and filled on top, so it's now the roof to his layer at the bottom!! I think he's in premolt cos he's sealed the burrow and his top half is black not pink, and he's not coming out at night, so I'm not gonna try feeding him, I feed him 1s a week, maybe an extra cricket here and there but only one.

And I feed the rest if the crickets to the tube web spiders outside.
I'd love to catch one, I think you'd need a block of wood with a ledge cut into it, and a hole drilled above the ledge for the spider to make it's tube, but I think they might have a cave at the back in nature I'm not sure!.

I love spiders sorry for ranting
