Hey!

I was handaling my Chilean Rose yesterday and she pooed on me - this I gather is a defence mechanism and the Internet has given me this idea that she might malt soon becuase of it? Or it is a sign of imminent malting?

The thing is that her poo was watery and red - it had some white bits in which seem to be normal but I can't find anything about red/bloody spider poo. Is she ill? She has been climbing to the top of her cage and falling recently but it's only 8 inches high.

Anyway, while some species use their excreta as a defence mechanism, G. rosea isn't one of them.
She pooped because she had to poop and that's probably all there is to it.

Poop has nothing to do with 'malting' and spider blood (hemolymph) isn't red so it's certainly not that either, the color of spider poop can range from anywhere from white to red to black.

If she is climbing the humidity is probably too high and 8 inches is quite a bit for a terrestrial species.

Yip as said nothing to do with molting or spider blood, just wanted to poo lol, doesn't sound like anything wrong with your G,Rosea, although whats your setup/enclosure like?

What size is your rosea? If it's a smaller specimen perhaps the 8 inch fall is hurting it, is the substrate completely dry? Roseas detest any form of dampness in the substrate

8 inches is too high for even an adult rosea. They aren't spectacular climbers like Avics and Pokies, falls like that can injure and kill a T. And if your rosea is a fatass like mine... it stands a good chance of rupturing its abdomen.
