Maybe it's getting ready to molt. Maybe it's just full too. If they could talk thing's would be so much easier. We could hold up a cricket and they'd say "um, not today. Still kinda bloated from that pinky last week"=D

Hey, what's all that green stuff, is it gravel? I'm not sure they like that too much. It looks super wet too.

Hi, and welcome to the boards!

The smithi may be ready to molt and it may want a different type of material to live on. You can do a search on this board to find out what most everyone that posts here uses, and try that.
Usually, though, it is a peat moss/soil type mixture that is only damp enough to pack it down. Then give it some type of place to hide under, like a piece of broken flowerpot. For water, you can use a very small lid, like the cap off of a toothpaste tube.
How long have you had the b. smithi? It may need time to get used to where it is at before it is ready to eat.

Good luck, I am sure you will find wonderful help here, the boards have great people here!

welcome, and don't worry about your English, we can understand you just fine ;)
Looks like your little slingy is missing a leg too...but it will grow back. The abdomen looks nice and round, maybe a molt is coming up? And I echo the suggestion of taking it off the wet gravel. I'd use damp peat moss, or something similiar.
You can either mist till it gets bigger, or put a tiny water dish in, like the bottle cap suggestion

Yes, I know that, but it doesn't look like any smithi sling I've seen either......just doesn't seem "right" to me I guess. But, I don't have any Brachypelma at all so what do I know :)

I would say upcoming molt, and yes put it on peat, vermiculite, or potting soil.

I see what your saying Leanne... regardless of size it really doesn't look like a smithi sling in general appearance, even one before the colors start to show, but ya never know.

It really doesn't look much like a B. smithi sling. I got my second B. smithi when it was about an inch in legspan and it looked nothing like that. The whole shape of its body and legs just don't look right to be a Brachypelma. I have two other Brachypelma slings right now that are both about half an inch in legspan and neither one of them look like it either. You might want to try and put it on some slightly moist peat moss or peat moss/vermiculite mix for a substrate. Most spiderlings will burrow to a degree in soil. Any of my spiderlings that are half inch or over get crickets but I kill the crickets first. I use 1/4 - 1/2 inch crickets and remove their heads and legs and all of my spiderlings eat those fine. It could also be full like other people said, or about to molt. Good luck with your tarantula and welcome to the boards.

I don't know about the exactness of it being a Smithi, but yes, get rid of the green stuff!!!! If that's gravel, it can injure your s'ling! If the critter in the bottom left hand corner is what your using as it's meal...that thing is almost as big as the T it's self!! Perhaps try something samller like flightless fruit flies. It could be getting ready to molt. How long have you had it? If it's a new arivial, it will need time to adjust to it's new home....expect a week or so. But most importantly...get rid of the green stuff and give it a small ceramic flower pot turned on it's side or cork bark...something to hide in. Good luck and whatever kind of T it turns out to be, it will be beautiful!:)
Oh yeah, and don't keep the substrate (bedding) that wet, it's not a fish.

It looks like you may have been given some sketchy advice from whoever you bought this T from.

I'd take the advice given to you by the learned on these boards and perhaps do a little more reading on the subject.

One thing that I’ve just thought of.. how long do you give your T to eat. They won't necessary jump on their prey the moment it presented. They say present your to with some food and if its not taken remove the food after 24hours.

Although my suspicion is that you T is not really conformable with its current habitat. Change that, and even then don't be too surprised it still takes a while before the little fella takes a cricket.

One more thought...IF it is a B.smithi, they like to borrow...put some potting soil/peat moss down for your substrate, something to that effect that will pack for easier burrowing and that is softer.

duda_eu,

Welcome here ;)

What ever you have, its nice. You'll know soon enough.
Where do you get it? Maybe you can double check what they sold you. At that age, all the brachys look pretty close.
Can you see any color on its knees at all?

Anyway, Keep on post'in... :D

DEFINITLY TAKE THAT GREEN CRAP OUT OF THERE... but if a pet store employee told u to do that i dont blame u having it in there... just take my word and everyone elses and get the CRAP out of there and get some nice potting soil or sphagnum peat moss/vermiculite mix.

BTW... the pet store u bought it from is a bunch of idiots, the poor T has only 7 legs :(
