Red Island Birdeater??

hello, iv been offered a red island birdeater for £55 i looked up on them and cant find no information or caresheets at all... does anyone have one or have any information on them? need all the info i can get on them as i think im definatly going to get it!!

Try Phormictopus atrichomatus.

However, common names aren't very useful. "Red Island Birdeater" is commonly attributed to P. atrichomatus, but anybody can just use any common name for any T. Ask for the scientific name.

He gave me that name with it i still couldnt find anything really on google!

Same care as P. cancerides. Dry substrate, full water dish.

Phormictopus tend to be aggressive/defensive. They will slap/bite before flicking hairs and give threat poses after slapping. Will reach large sizes, close to ~8".

If it flicks hair, then it's NW.

I think they are from Dominica, not Dominican Republic/Haiti [Hispaniola]. See the world spider catalogue:

It includes Honduras in the range as well.
