I know swift has them. http://www.swiftinverts.com. You need to go to the "other" section. Unless you know what your doing dont even think about owning one of these, they have a very nasty venom. My uncle has had to have a few fingers removed because of the necrosis of the venom. Eather way I hope you know what your doing if you buy one of these. Some info on the L. reclusa (read below) I would provide more information but I dont know very much about L. reclusa.

Range: Most commonly found in the midwestern states of the USA
Hides: Generally they are found in cracks, woodpiles, attics, garages, sheds, barns, piles of rocks.
ID: Violin markings, brown - tan coloring, 6 eyes.
Size: About the size of a quarter.

ware could i find some or are they even legal i have herd and seen some nasty things about them
Yes, they are legal to keep in captivity ( although you may want to check if your town/ state has any venomous animal bylaws ). However, I wouldn't recommend keeping one unless you are very experienced and can be responsible and safe with a highly venomous invertebrate. What experience do you have in keeping inverts?

As for info, what and how much would you like to know?

No one's ever asked you the same question regarding any of your pets huh? ;)

Personally I find them pretty cool looking...like a mini huntsman. Course much of what I find attractive repulses others I guess. :?

Rhom, As aslready stated, they are sometimes found on dealer's lists. Not hard to come by at all. I'm not aware of them being illegal but it's always a good bet to check your local laws of course. Run a search on eny engine of the latin name and you'll find all the info you need.
Props for doing your research before acquiring any.

Exactly! That's the spirit! Very cool indeed!. Who wouldn't appreciate a more venemous, miniature version?
Some people feel that if they do not find interest in something, no one possibly could. Glad you're not one of those types. :) I especially find it funny when people who attempt to keep snakes and spiders and such might shoot down another's individual preference. Particularly when it goes "against the grain" if you will. Wouldn't you agree?

I assume this is also referring to a recluse bite?

Was this bite sustained in California?

Depending on where you live, it's possible that there's a decent population already in your home, coexisting with your daily life peacefully... So it'd be a bit difficult to make it illegal. Although, they do get a pretty bad rep and the lawmakers are real idiots sometimes.

I realize this has been said several different times and several different ways,

but be careful. They may be reluctant to bite, but if they get you good it will take months and maybe even years to heal.

I'd rather be bitten by P. Negriveter. At least they fly in a serum and after a pinprick it's all over.

With a recluse bite, there's nothing you can really do.

I agree. I'd rather be bitten by a Phoneutria than any of the serious cytos.

With P.nigriventor it's all or nothing--you either die ( quickly ) or completely recover, and chances are pretty good that you won't die. With reclusa, you have a much greater chance of incurring real harm ( without dying ) than with Phoneutria. And, after long and hideous suffering...you could still die from infection or renal failure!

This is a debataboe point. There have been people who have had good luck using nitro patches to treat recluse envenomations. It seems the vasodialating effect of the Nitro counteracts the vasoconstriction caused by the venom and prevents necrosis.

I wouldn't be surprised if they've experimented with pure oxygen envoronments in regards to recluse bites and gotten positive results.

However, these cures don't appear to be mainstream yet.

If I got bitten by a recluse in my hometown, neither of these would be mentioned.
