The only thing that will tame an aggressive snake down is frequent handling. Sometimes snakes are just mean and you can't do anything about it, especially if they're wild-caught and/or adults.

While I wouldn't say live food makes them meaner it does get them in the habit of striking and grabbing a moving object where over time most snakes seem to be more calm if fed frozen prey. The main thing however is not to feed them in the tank they live in as this will program them to view something entering the environment as food. The simple act of removing the snake to a sterilite when feeding can greatly cut down on feeding bites and bites in general for that matter.
