It's actually due to lack of space to house them. Even if I had more room, I wouldn't get more. I'd give them bigger/better enclosures instead. I do have a "wishlist", yes. But that's all it is : A wishlist. I'm not going to give in to temptation to acquire more. My quartet of Ts gives me all that I want : Beauty, visibility and longevity. Should any of them pass suddenly, yes, they'll be replaced with another species. Definitely another Brachy, species will depend on availability.
That was my plan at first, just 1... I managed 3 months before I got 5 more 😅 and I was going to stop there but then I started seeing my partner and everything went out the window he breeds t's would bring me slings instead of flowers or chocolates when he called to see me then family started getting them for me and deals I couldn't resist, it very quickly snowballed. But I have the space the time and money to look after them so it is what it is.
As I said I have stopped though for now I am concentrating on sorting out my spood room..... or hijacking the living room, what ever you prefer 😆 luckily we are a spoody loving family so no one cares 😁.

Hey guys, im getting my first tarantula in a few weeks! I picked out a Tliltocatl Ablopilosum sling.
But the seller offered a freebie ( Tliltocatl Vagnas) sling as well.

Would it be okay to accept these two tarantulas, even though I’m a beginner who has never owned tarantulas before. I do understand that they cannot be housed together, and I am prepared for the two slings (space wise)

What tips do you guys have if this would be acceptable to do? I want to give both of these cuties the best lives I can, and I don’t know if this would be considered “too much” for a beginner.
Im new to the hobby too, and when purchasing my first sling I got a freebie as well! My only advice is make sure you have enough feeders for two, I ended up cutting waxworms in half and feeding them that since I don't have easy access to mealworms or crickets. Also heard its a good option for slings since it fattens them up real quick.

Again Im also new but this has been my experience so far! I have a Tliltocatl Ablopilosum and a Brachypelma smithi.

Oh, also have some strong patience. These pet rocks take a good minute to start looking like tarantulas you see in pictures lols

Personaly, with such hardy type slings, you dont have much to worry about much.

get your enclosure ready before hand if possible.

even if you were to feed them just once a week they would still live.

many people are afraid that slings are “fragile”. I mean yes, in a way. But they are still highly evolved creatures.

i didnt do the power feeding method, nor the lots of feedings with my g pulchripe slings. They were so small they lived in a dram vial a few weeks. And oh and behold, they molted once a month almost in the first 3-5 months.

its winter now, they are plump, and its been over two months no molting. Way over 1,5” inches.

As long as you did your research well, and are continuously following the board, youll do fine. The key is to know what you dont need yet, to be ready.

or else, in 2 weeks, youre going to come back asking why your sling isnt eating even though its fat.

two new world terrestrials like you got, is a great way to start. You can feed pinhead crickets, peices of mealworms, waxworms… its very basic.

good luck and welcome!
