Hi all,
I use the coconut bark that you buy in bricks at your local pet shops and have been loving it for years, but trying to save some money here and there I recently bought some peat from wal-mart for like $3 max and so far it looks and feels the same as the coconut bark, just a bit more on the softer and fluffier side. Would adding water to it make it a bit more sturdy? Or would I have to toss in some vermiculite? Also, there's stuff right next to the peat that says Permilite, now is this the same as vermiculite or is this a no no for T's? Thank you for your time.

When I set up an enclosure, I pack the peat down a little while there is still moisture in it. After it completely dries out, It holds form for burrows very well. You can mix some vermiculite in with the peat for added moisture retention but a lot of poeple don't mess with it. I don't know whats in permilite but I've never heard of anyone useing it so based on that, I would say it's a no no.
