I have 3 scolopendra cingulata sp Egypt that I want to try to breed, but they are still very small after 3 years. The info I can find about them is rather conflicting as to what their adult size is expected to be. So does anyone here have any experience with keeping them to adulthood? Mine are about 9-10 cm at the moment. I suspect that if these are adult, the species might be mislabeled as cingulata, both because of the vast difference in size from other cingulata and the fact that they are found in Egypt

you could try id-ing it yourself with this key (Lewis, 2010: “A key and annotated list of the Scolopendra species of the Old World with a reappraisal of Arthrorhabdus (Chilopoda: Scolopendromorpha: Scolopendridae)”) to see if it fits the characteristics of S. cingulata.

like S. polymorpha there are different morphs of S. cingulata (even an Austrian one) and considering the maritime trade that has been going on for thousands of years all over the mediterranean sea it could very well be an extant population of S. cingulata.

And if not, well then their characteristics should differ, right?
