Hey there,

I had my first Avic versicolor a few months ago and it died after a month. I had cross ventilation, a water bowl, I didn't over-mist.

The temperature of the room they stay in is low 70's, sometimes high 60's. I'm wondering if that's why my sling died - is that too cold for it?

I have 10 other tarantulas that are all happy and healthy in the same room.

I'm wondering if I'd have any success with another Avic or if I should avoid until I can house them somewhere where I can have a heater?

Please weigh in - I'm deciding today whether or not to get another Avic sling. Thanks!

1. It's caribena versicolor, not avicularia. The name changed quite a while ago.
2. Sometimes slings just die, no matter how well you take care of it.
Slightly lower temps shouldn't be problematic. It could slow everything down, they might not want to eat as much, won't grow as fast, but it shouldn't kill them.
3. If you believe you did everything right, just get another Avic or c. versicolor. A lot of side ventilation, a water dish, and an occasional spray. And I do mean occasional. My versi sling gets a spray once every two weeks or so. He/she eats 2-3 times a week.
4. If you believe the temp is an issue, make sure that your future slings have a higher temp.
