Has AB given consideration to making the forum a non profit educational medium which would qualify it for 501 (c) (3) public and private grants?

We have not given any consideration to that. We appreciate the suggestion, but doubt we would qualify, In addition, we do not have the manpower (or any possible funding) to follow through.

Unlikely to qualify for a litany of reasons, but there's no reason for frequent users not to buy a membership of their own. Why seek tax dollars? Assuming even a quarter of the people who join have $25 dollars to spend on a spider, it's reasonable to assume they've enough disposable income to contribute $25, even just once, towards the premier source of information on nearly everything about them.
why not become a supporting member yourself? Maybe that'd help encourage others to join in... continued, quality access would be sustained, without the need to siphon tax dollars, & the unforeseen consequences that may come with it.
Even if you're a prolific contributor to the knowledge base, you've likely taken away as much as you've given. In my opinion, $25/year is an exceptionally reasonable fee, especially compared to the average society memberships, & their knowledge base is accessible only through a paywall.

Can't agree more. I don't have credit cards, but do have a PayPal account. Do the admin have a link or option for this method? Being foreign (to the USA), PayPal is probably the best route, bank transfers are slow, time consuming and have massive fees. I think it's good to chip in, even if here many CB spiders are under in and aroun $10, that shouldnt be the metric. books cost $50 etc. And here we can read AND cknverse back and forth! the info and conversion I totally agree is worth contributing to, whatever someone can afford. Be it $1 or $1,000.

My only issue is now there are so many ads and some of them are very sexual. So I can no longer look at this website with my kids or at work, which is quite unfortunate. Maybe the admins could look into this. Given the language policy, I assume this is meant to be a child friendly site. I get ads from ikea to lesbians cuddling nearly naked on a bed. Quite the range.

The ads I am getting today are for a local car dealerships website I was on a few days ago and for thriftbooks which is a website I have an account on and made purchases from before

I'm not a technology guy but it would appear to me the ads are related to cookies or whatever from other websites I've been to lol

In fact, we do. :)

Thank you for letting us know. Can you please send us a screenshot of the ads that you consider sexual. You can send it either via our contact us email (contact_us@arachnoboards.com), or via private conversation.

This is correct. Google ads are based on one's search history on their device.

Cheers, thanks. The weird thing with the adds is it's Chinese stuff. I live in Taiwan, but this is a work. Outside of here and Facebook, it's all just work stuff. there's lots of varying stuff. Ikea, kitchenware, cars, clothing etc. This one stuck out though. I will email it to you :) I don't mind so much, but it is strange when 2 ladies cuddling in underwear pops up on the phone haha. My guess is a dating website?

Thanks for sending it to us. For the US, it is not necessarily considered "sexual". It is subjective how it is perceived. ;)

It may not be due to search history. It might be because of geographic location.

Simplified, it's clickbait. I got curious a while ago and went digging. Found several sites with countless suggestive images. As @Arachnopets mentioned it's governed by region and what each region's law enforcement considers over the top. Excessive. It must be kept in mind, it is entirely up up the higher ups in the local law enforcement communities as to what is an outright criminal offense. Law enforcement runs all and rules all with the primary motivation as to what can be leaned on, extorted for a fine. They, not the courts, collect all fines and fees and the higher ups in law enforcement direct their officers as to what violations to enforce as being the most lucrative. Chasing clickbait from a chronic offender web site like Shopee or Lazada can get leaned on pretty hard, but individual web sites with small cash flows usually just get the warning, 'big brother is watching' and the offending image simply vanishes.

Keep in mind the different mindsets of various countries. https://edition.cnn.com/2024/11/21/...rancois-prost-photography-hnk-intl/index.html

I also get weird Temu type ads that look pretty sexual in nature, but sometimes on closer inspection may not be. I may have screenshotted a couple. I'll check my phone folder and see.
