my female stout leg just molted yesterday and i was thinking of maybe giving her a larger enclosure right now she is in a 5X5X6 LXWXH enclosure and now that she is a little bigger i would like for her to move around or have some more moving around room. but having read some posts here some are of the notion that she might not be able to find her food which makes some sense i just would like some ideas if this might work a ten gallon tank split down the middle with screen top, using the coconut shell substrate she is on now, water dish. i feel she does not have enough room to move and just moves very little she webs like crazy any idea of what i could do.

It would really help if you told us how big she is now. Without that information, we can't really advise you.

However, a good rule of thumb for terrestrials is that the enclosure be approximately twice the leg span in width, three times the leg span in length and about equal to the leg span from the top of the substrate to the top of the enclosure.

A larger enclosure would be appropriate. At that size, you could look at a large Kritter Keeper container, a 2.5 gallon tank, or a 5 gallon tank. Or, a container similar in size to any of these.

I keep all 4" + T's in 10 gallon aquariums. Even my 2 rosies use all the room.

That is overkill for a 4" tarantula. They really don't need that much space.

I agree. I keep all my 4"+ T's in clear steralite style containers from Storables and they all do great!!

The only T I keep in a glass aquarium is my T Blondi. I prefer plastic as in KKs
because it is lightweight and KKs already have lids with a hatch in them which
can make maint. easier.

A larger tank would be appropriate as others have said, though I wouldn't go with anything larger than 5 gallon or its equivalent. And I'd avoid using a divided tank, particularly with a screen top, since it's easy for them to get over into the other side.
