My Grammostola Grossa has a habit of sticking her feet in her mouth? She hasn't done this since I started re-feeding her, so I'm thinking that maybe it's a sign that she's hungry? I'm just curious to see if any of you guys know why she would do this...

I have seen my Brachypelma auratum sling do this. First time I saw it I thought she was eating her toes! She would put her foot in her mouth then brush it over her legs or other body parts then put a different foot in her mouth and do it again. I think she is just grooming, that is my guess anyway.
I have also seen my 1" Avic avic sling do it as well right after I dribbled water on her web.

But if yours is just sitting there with its foot in its mouth I have no idea what it is doing. Likes the taste of toe jam?

All of our T's do this same thing, i would guess they are cleaning themselves. Such a pretty set of T's !

I agree that it's probably just typical grooming behavior.

i've seen my spiders clean their feet off when they have little pieces of substrate stuck to the "sticky" pads that let them walk on glass

it always makes me think of the scene in the spider-man movie when PP gets the banner stuck to his hand after failing to catch the school bus

I've always compared this behaviour to the way cats wet their paws before cleaning their faces. Quite endearing, really, once you've got over the - 'what on earth is it doing ?' thing :)
