Yeah, coco fiber gets pretty dusty when it’s dry. I used to work with truckloads of it when I had my monitor. Whenever I did any cleaning in that enclosure, I had to wear a mask to avoid nasty sinus infections.

The physical abrasion of the stuff is one thing. But the fact that we use it as animal substrate pretty much guarantees an elevated bacteria content. Can’t be too careful!

Thanks for the laughs, everything is good! I'm not going to wear PPE while preparing an enclosure... I'm just going to use common sense. As I said, I felt like an idiot! I cut my eye the first time over 12 years ago :bear:.

Just saying but I highly disrecommend blowing into any T or invertebrate in general’s enclosure, especially for those who have really intense urticating hairs such as theraphosa, brachypelma, lasiadora, and acanthoscurria. Also this is why I always prefer to keep my substrate somewhat damp so that it is packed down and have little particles floating around.
