Well I made a post a while ago about me possibly getting some Tityus paraensis, but the species turned out to be something different. These guys are imported from Guyana and are definitely hissing scorpions of some kind (very loud hissing for a scorp). A reliable source described them as Rhopalurus pintoi, but I have no good pics to compare to these scorpions I have. Take a look!

Wow actually the markings on the mesasoma looks like R. pintoi and I heard that the males have a considerably wider metasoma. So it looks like I probably have a match here or close enough. Thanks for the pdf!

This looks like a female R.pintoi, it is definetly not T.paraensis, as this species has a large spinoid subaculear tooth, the specimen in the picture has small rounded one, almost like a granule. There is only one species in the genus that is as black and from the Guyana region, R.pintoi. I know that it is a female, because the metasomal segments are not as proximally widened as in males.
Very beautyful scorpion, and I wouldn't mind if you would send me some specimens ;)

It's sounds pretty much from the pdf article and what Michiel is saying that I have Rhopalurus pintoi! WOOOHOOO! Here are some pics that are lit up a bit more to see! They're awesome scorpions!

Yeah it does seem like mine are females. I haven't done a pectine count yet, but maybe I'll do that later on. If the two bigger ones I have are female then I just hope that maybe they're already fertilized and I'll get 1 or 2 broods out of them. I will let everyone know when I have babies available. Wish me luck!

Hi Jesse,

There is no need to do pectine count, the difference in the metasomal segments is very obvious most of the times. And pectine counts can overlap. You can useit as secondary character.
The new pictures with flash show the true colors more vividly. Very nice. They do not seem gravid at the moment, but who knows, it is not uncommon for WC scorpions to give birth in captivity. Do remember me when you get young in the future :D
