Nhandu and Brachypelma hairs seem to affect me the most, even then it's just mild irritation.

I do avoid being haired a lot, when I see them kicking I close the lid and leave the room. I don't know how much range they can get when they start kicking but this has allowed me to avoid them about 95% of the time.

Never used to get any reaction. Now Xenesthis, Grammostola, Euathlus and Thrixopelma drive me insane.

I had Xenesthis hairs lodged in my elbow for weeks. Savage.

No reaction to anything other than Acanthoscurria and Lasiodora hairs, the former causes mild itching while the latter causes the same reaction I used to get from stripping out old loft insulation (really itchy until I wash them off and a rash on my forearms/wrists that usually goes within 3 days).

I am not bothered at all by the hairs. I got t stirmi hairs all over my arms and neck, and only had mild irritation for three hours. That's the only time I have had any reaction to the hairs

I've been flicked at many times- by an albo and a porteri, of all Ts!!! However, I was never close enough to them while they were flicking, so I don't think the setae got on my skin. I don't suppose theirs are very severe hairs either....Boy, I can't wait for my Nhandu chromatus slings to grow up...:rofl:
B.albopilosum actually is one of the species i get hairs from. They are less likely to flick than my B.hamorii, but are next in line. I have three atm, one MM and two slings, and all three flick readily.

Avics affect me worse by far....well, T. ockerti can be pretty bad, too. I break out like poison ivy with avics though....other species I don't really notice it at all.
Fixed your Grammar ;)

@nicodimus22 My B. hamorii (ugh still hate that name ...) is the only one that has actually flicked at me at any point thus far (once while on the wall of her Enclosure :banghead:). When I see her flick I back up and walk away for an unspecified amount of time. I am not sure how far they travel and I don't want to find out. So I basically pull a "NOPE" moment and exit the premises post-haste.

I hope they don't end up in the Scorpion Enclosure next door, which I had not thought about until just now ...

The only time I've been caught out is cleaning out enclosures. I'm not sure if the hairs lose anything although my hands did itch for a while.

I shall be getting disposal gloves when my T.blondi is bigger.

I don't currently keep any T's (Snakes only for the time being), but in the past both T. Stirmi and apophysis absolutely killed me. Even during routine mainenance I would end up with a rash covering the majority of my body, neck, to my waist. The funny thing is that the actual symptoms wouldn't appear until a day or two later and then then would last for two weeks. And I am not allergic to ANYTHING. I keep venomous snakes so I should probably knock on wood....lol.

I don't have a reaction to any, really. After working with a T.stirmi for months the most irritation I got was a light tingle on my hands. Not even enough to itch.

So your statement is in fact wrong. You do have a reaction.

"other" They didn't bother me years ago but have come severe over the years. Seems like many people have reported the same.

Later, Tom
