La Riz man.... look: http://www.birdspiders.com/archive/1/0073.htm

It's like the SAME T!!! Are you SURE about the H. maculata thing? After looking at these pics side-by-side, I'm having doubts. Now, what about this S. calciatum... as potent as a pokie? As mean as a maculata?

Almost definitely? Hey, isn't that an oxymoron? :D
Although mature males of Stromatopelma and Heteroscodra very closely resemble each other, Terri's mature male looks more like Heteroscodra, to me. What characteristics lead you to believe it to be Stromatopelma? The only thing I'm really going on here is eyeing up the pic, comparing it to my poor recollection of what a male Stromatopelmid looks like. That, and there's been far more Heteroscodra imported in the last year, than Stromato. Sure, there are plenti of captive bred Stromatos around, but typically petstores will order their inverts along with their reptiles. Reptiles suppliers, either import them themselves, or get them from importers, with some captive bred creatures on their lists. I doubt Terri's petstore got this as a captive bred and raised it to sell for nine bucks.
Of course it's not foolproof. The petstore and it's supplier could have stocked them C.B.
But, that's all I have to go on.
What I'm trying to convey is, that it could very well be Stromatopelma, but is likely Heteroscodra.
If anybody knows the difference between the two at the ultimate stage, please help us out here.
Sorry for the off-topic reply to Holley's original Pokie pic thread.

I agree with my brother

upon first look at the pic that mimz posted right off bat I thought of a male hetrascodra maculata all you have to do is look at the pattern on its abdomen and see that it isnt a pokie and I never seen a male from the pokie genus to have pipe cleaner legs like I said again got to agree with my bro

ok I looked at miz m's pic again and I supose it could be either a H. mac or a S. calceatum. I am leaning more towards H. mac now though due to the pattern on the abdomin. my mature male S. calceatum had allmost no pattern at all. anyway I'm no expert but its probably an h. mac'

My Pokey

This is my P. regalis, Jeery. I was clearing out his tank and decided I would take photo of him for this thread. He is more than twice the size he was when I got hom a couple of months ago. He is now over 3". The yellow on the underside of his legs is really starting to show through now.:)
