my pokies were cooperating much better than my avics tonight, so a change of plans resulted in some pics I thought I'd share!
Here's the P fasciata male that I posted in Vayu Son's thread:

P formosa...no pic...
that was one uncooperative little bugger. He bit my paintbrush quite a few times, but I think he was just hungry. I thanked him, and gave him a cricket, now he's happy :)

Um, excuse me, I don't know if you noticed, but two of them are OUT OF THEIR ENCLOSURES!!!!!!

Wow, U R BRAVE!!!

They are beauties, maybe after I get used to my first one, I'll get some more. But she's webbing up her enclosure right now and I haven't seen much of her!:( Well, I guess that's better than seeing TOO much of her..... and her fangs!!!

thanks all,
and yes, the pics come out better if not taken through plastic LOL
The only one that actually completely left his inclosure was the fasciata. He took a stroll across the rug, and then decided he maybe didn't want to go back home! Since I didn't want him in my armpit again (I don't think he'd fit there anymore!) I convinced him he was better off in his container ;)

Very nice pics, the P. ornata has soo many colors.

You're braver than me, I wouldn't want my P. formosa out of its container.

MY MYSTERY POKIE

Here's a pic of mine, your're right, the plastic does him no justice! You inspired me to let him out!! Still don't know which pokie he is, but I'm sure one of you will know at a glance. Freshly molted, it appears to be a he by the build, but exuvia was twisted!:(

Thought you might like to see pics of me handling my girlfriends P fasciata

Please do *NOT* try this at home!

Poecilotheria are purported to have a venom that may have serious consequences - take care and handle your tarantula at your own risk!

I have to comment that she was amazingly well behaved for the entire handling session, spending much of her time clinging upside down under my palm. She grips very tightly, it's the first time I've felt the small hooks on each feet against my skin.

I spent nearly 20 minutes gauging her temperament and reactions as best I could before letting her walk onto me of her own free will - I would not recommend "forced handling" of any Poecilotheria.

Hope you like the pics.

MizM,
Sorry, not Poecilotheria. Looks like an ultimate male Heteroscodra maculata to me.

=D :D =D Lopez is purported to have lost his mind temporarily and handled a T that could make him sweat, vomit, have excruciating pain and muscle spasms... OF HIS OWN FREE WILL!=D :D =D

I'm jealous, I would NEVER TRY THT AT HOME!! They're beautiful!!

Ya think? But aren't they black and white? He has "pipe cleaners" for back legs, really fluffy... now I'm really perplexed:?

I think. Damn those cookie cutter pet shops!
I haven't seen any of my mature males exhibit that kind of pipe cleaner effect. They're fuzzy, but not like that. Their coloration dulls too.
Pic of Mature male Poecilotheria rufilata (to keep this thread on topic ;) ). Sorry for the "fuzzy" pic.

Found a better (I think) pic of a mature male Poecilotheria rufilata. Why rufilata? Heteroscodra and Stomatopelma are roofie wannabees :)
