Happy healthy poeci’s
does your P metallica have a cork bark that goes from sub to top of enclosure?

I can only see the background. If you dont have one, i recommend you to get one. They like to hide behind it.

your tarantula will be less defensive if it has a natural type of hide.

same for your tarantulas in the green lids. They need bark that goes bottom to top, that allows them to get behind.

i will send you a video that demonstrates this well. And youll understand why. Start around 6 minutes.

Dave is a Master breeder. He’s done this for years. Would i go into the enclosure like that? No. But i would find a secure way to have the wood in some kind if catch container.

real important stuff at 18minutes.

at around 8:33, he points out a FRESH MOLT. Looks like someone is rehousing after a molt… good tips.
In my experience my poecis in the green top love the substrate and have 2 cork barks laying down and one stick that goes to the top. They have plenty of hiding room and have settled in nicely building webs and making hides almost immediately. My metallica has one cork bark that goes from top to bottom and 2 sticks that cover the ground and give some climbability as well. They all love to stay hidden and in fact are so good at it they are so difficult to find when they aren’t hunting. I will follow up with pictures Photos Below
1:top down of p metallica hiding.
2: full enclosure photo. Female p rufilata
3: photo take from the door of p Metallica enclosure
4:male p rufilata
5: male rufilata secured cork bark to the ground and webbed around it.
6: female rufilata built a funnel to her hide.
7&8 male rufilata sitting outside his hide
9&10: taken from the left flank of the enclosure p Metallica female

excellent.

its not always obvious to see in a photo because of perspective. I figured it would be negligent on my part not to mention it.
