I had to go look at my mating pair again just to make sure but yes, that first picture is a penultimate male. Female Pederseni have a solid white folio with light black/brown on the very edges of the white. This girl is maybe 4", so you make a great point. They are even before maturity. But it's a pretty drastic change when they do mature.Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the first picture(penultimate), had that been a female, the dark folio stripe should have already begun to fade at that size. The retention of that dark stripe in males is an example of sexual dimorphism, even before maturity.
post a ventral picture or compare it to this male of mine that not long since matured he is about 4 inch in this picture look where the arrow is pointing to females dont have that lumpDoes anyone know about P. metallica? I mean as far as differences prior to the maturing molt. Mine is probably about 4" now and I can't get a non-shredded molt to save my life so I've never been able to sex it.
