What, exactly, is the law on the shipping of the Poecilotheria subfusca lowland?
I know they can't be shipped across state lines, but, I was willing to drive to a reputable dealer and purchase one. I even asked if they was bringing them to an expo their gonna be at that's close to my home state. They informed me that they couldn't be sold across state lines, under any circumstances
Is this true?

There are many threads on this already. All of the Sri Lankan Poecilotheria's are locked within state when it comes to commercial purposes and cannot be sold to other states except for within that state that they're in. There is a lot more here to talk about but that's the simplest I can explain it.

Or they could genuinely gift it to you, for free, not included in an order with anything else... Good luck, I'm looking for one too.

Yes, it is true. The Sri Lankan Poecilotheria species are considered endangered and protected by the Endangered Species Act. It is best to stay away from buying these if you don't know the laws, rules, and regulations- or unwilling or unable to research the matter yourself. You will need to consult the United States Fish and Wildlife Service for more info. Please do not take the word or advice of perfect strangers on the internet on this matter. Violating the Endangered Species Act is a serious offense.

I've always wondered how they've come to be available for sale in the states they're available for sale in, myself. Someone must've happened to be in the original state, purchased them, then moved...or something. Made a.donation at the right level for that as a "thank you" gift, or something. Lots of opacity...Probably best to buy a nice photograph of one instead...

Presumably, those being offered legally for sale are captive-bred offspring of specimens that were already in the state when the species was first added to the endangered species list...

Presumably. 😅

And I guess we all have to hope there were enough such specimens to constitute a viable gene pool...

No,don’t drive to another state and purchase a restricted species, then drive back.
You have violated the strict letter of the law.

That seller would be required to verify your residency in that particular state.

As @AphonopelmaTX stated, check with the USFW service before you do anything with the restricted species of Pokies.

And read the many posts here on AB.

Or they could genuinely gift it to you, for free, not included in an order with anything else... Good luck, I'm looking for one too.
If anyone does this, make darn sure you keep detailed records(phone numbers/names and dates of transactions) in case anything is called into question.

You may possibly be asked to prove no exchange of monetary compensation took place. And that could be difficult to do.

To quote the old saying “all your ducks in a row”.If not,it will get complicated quickly.
